Week 8

Vampire and Beyond
(Werewolves, Zombies, Mermaids, etc.)

This week we are reading some pretty interesting books about vampires, zombies, mermaids, werewolves and other strange creatures. Each of the listed books below were fun reads and had great stories to share with the reader. This type of  books are based on mythological or folkloric beings and a story has been created around them.  I personally enjoyed each of these books and would recommend them to anyone interested in these areas or anyone wanting to try a books from one of these areas. I found them to be very well written stories along with great characters with a passionate story that develops into a great adventure. I could relate with the characters even though I don't know that I can relate to their specific creature characteristics.

 ZOMBIES:

 Zombies and Unicorns

This book is an anthology of stories about unicorns and zombies. Holly Black head Team Unicorn which includes stories by the following authors: Meg Cabot, Kathleen Duey, Margo Lanagan, Garth Nix, Naomi Novik and Dana Peterfreund. Team Zombie is lead by Justine Larbalestier and includes Libba Bray, Cassandra Clare, Alaya Dawn Johnson, Maureen Johnson, Carrie Ryan and Scott Westerfeld. The book begins with an explanation of why either zombie stories or unicorn stories are the best and why Holly Black and ad Justine Larbalestier decided to create this book. The stories alternate between a unicorn story and then a zombie story with comments from Holly and Justine. The stories are really fun and since they are short, this makes for an easy, enjoyable read. It is great to see a story either about  unicorns or zombies from each of these great authors. I would recommended this book, even if you aren't really into unicorns or zombies.
